I would like to share with you guys that I’m one of the most organized people in the world, but I would be lying. Given that fact, I have to resort to finding my tips from other sources. A great one I found is Apartment Therapy. An article that popped out to me is one on organizing dresser drawers. It stuck out because I know that when I go in mine to pick out clothes I experience the inevitable stress that comes with not being able to find anything to wear. It’s not because I have no clothes; it’s because I would be lucky to find the bottom of the pile, never mind finding that pair of socks I need.
Now that I’ve been honest about my (lack of) organizing ability, here are some good tips from Apartment Therapy to get you on the right track:
- Don’t stack your t-shirts. Filing them makes it easier to see and take out the shirts you have without rifling through everything.
- Take everything out of the drawers every few months and do some refolding. It’s something I hate doing but it’s necessary if I want to wear my clothes straight out of the drawer without as much ironing. Let’s just say the iron and I don’t get along.
- Hold the small stuff in containers, then put those in the drawers. These can hold anything from jewelry to change and ties.
