Hi all of my fellow internet surfers! I don’t know about you, but I’m a HUGE fan of Broadway and musicals. I just can’t get enough of them; the music, the dancing, the singing, the acting, it always takes my breath away! You’ll have the chance to experience just what I’m talking about; the Broadway hit “Wicked” is coming to Memphis, and will stick around from October 13th to October 31st. Pretty fitting for the tale of two witches to stick around for Halloween, huh?
“Wicked” is the tale of two of the world’s most famous witches, Glenda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West from “The Wizard of Oz”. It tells how the most unlikely pair: a witch with green skin, a fiery personality, and who’s generally misunderstood, and another who is beautiful, ambitious, and popular become the most unlikely of friends.
“Wicked” promising to be one of the most interesting shows that you’ve seen in a while, and to make things even better, certain restaurants around Memphis are hosting pre/post theater dinners, and the Peabody is even hosting a dessert bar.
The Peabody Lobby Bar was such a popular after-theatre spot that the hotel is offering a selection of “gravity defying” cocktails and desserts for WICKED’S second run in Memphis. Desserts, including the Wicked Oreo Mint Cheesecake, Wicked Lime Tart, and Wicked Chocolate Chip Cupcake, come in shades of green for $6.50 each. The Wicked Apple Martini is $10. This would be my preferred choice for pre/post theater treats. If you want an actual “Wicked” related dinner, check out Chez Philippe from 5 pm – 6:30 pm or Capriccio Grill from 4 pm to 6:30 pm at $65 and $45 respectively (includes complimentary valet, tax, and gratuity).
This seems like a completely awesome way to spend an evening, and it all takes place only about 20 minutes from the Madison Humphrey Center Apartments.
The show is 2 hours and 30 minutes long with a 15 minute intermission. The recommended age for kids is 8 and up, and kids under 3 aren’t allowed.
Do you enjoy the theater?
